Alcamo Bianco DOC, Adamo, Sicily

Alcamo is made from the indigenous grapes Catarrato and lesser known Grillo, when first opened it is quite steely and dry with a little time and air the fruit becomes much more open reminiscent of whites peaches and some floral notes too. A great outdoors summer wine: perfect with barbequed chicken.

Tasting Notes
Cristina and Vincenzo Adamo farm this extensive 75 hectare estate, a mixture of vines and olives, all produced organically. Bought from the biggest marsala producer, back in the 1930s, it now has a very modern outlook. Admittedly the wonderfully retro 30s label on the Alcamo Bianco isn’t to everyone’s taste, but everything else is spot on. The Nero d’Avola is easy to drink and bursting with typical raisiny fruit whilst the Sauvignon carries it’s Mediterranean weight with voluptuous charm.
