Made from Airen, native to Castilla, the Delgado brothers have here created a light refreshing, citrusy white with hints of cucumber from a grape that is sadly often underated. This is largely due to the intensive methods that are generally employed in it's growth, an ethos that couldn't be further from that of this intriguing pair.

Half way between Valdepenas and Valencia is the city of Socuéllamos, just oustside of Socuéllamos are the vineyards of E.H.D This organic winery and vineyard was founded in 1998 by the Delgado Brothers and the grapes are Sohiscert and Ecocert certified. The vineyards stretch over 200 ha, 100 ha of white (Airen, Moscatel and Sauvignon) and 100 ha of red (Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Tempranillo and Merlot).  The superbly equipped winery is conveniently located in the middle of the vineyards saving valuable time between picking and pressing and so reducing the reliance on sulphur so common round here

Tasting Notes

The superbly equipped winery is conveniently located in the middle of the vineyards saving valuable time between picking and pressing and so reducing the reliance on sulphur so common round here. 

The Blanco is made from Airen, an indigenous grape of Castilla. Airen can often be a little bland when left to yield too highly. When yields are restricted and quality is the driving factor the grape can achieve some interesting varietal character.This particular cuvée is crisp light and refreshing with subtle notes of melon, citrus and cucumber.
