A pretty, slightly spiced nose of cloves and sawn wood or smoke, this has a soft, quite light taste with easy tannins. If you close your eyes it'll take you somewhere a little different and off the beaten track, warm but not heavy. After a while an almost raisin character builds up. There's a lot going on here to keep you interested. Organic - OVegan - VE
Producer introduction
the farm was established in 1980, fulfilling the dream to leave the city for the countryside, with healthy surroundings and contact with nature and its rhythms. The little farm has always been handled by the family and where the enthusiasm, passion, devotion and years of experience, have produced wines of quality, obtaining various national and international recognitions. The wines bear the names of the family members, to express the satisfaction of bottling the fruits of our own labour.
TERRITORY... land of the sun, colours and harmony for a typical wine from the Marche region
The MOGNON farm is situated in the medieval small village of Castel Colonna, 30 km from Ancona, port and chief town of the Marche region in central Italy. Our vineyards are located 5 km from the Adriatic sea with its breeze that mitigates the climatic excesses of the seasons, and the Appeninic Mountains who protect them from cold winds, creating a microclima, particularly favourable for the viticulture. The soil is formed by soft and harmonious slopes of clay of average mix, tending towards limestone, creating an ideal habitat for flora and fauna, also thanks to the use of organic agriculture techniques.
ORGANIC AGRICULTURE... harmonious combination between nature and labour of man
"" We practice organic agriculture on the entire property of our farm with the wish to respect nature and not pollute the environment. The production is controlled and certificated by the Istituto Mediterraneo di Certificazione, a controlling organ for the biological agriculture, authorized by the Italian Ministry of Agriculture. The vineyards are closely followed up with care and devotion and without forcing, limiting intentionally the production to favour the quality. A green pruning is effected, in order to control the vegetation, eliminating the grape-bunches in excess. The grapes are picked by hand in different periods, catching the optimum moment of maturity, and subsequently processed immediately.

All our wines are the result of grapes from organic agricolture.
LE TERRE DI FRATTULA...  Lands of Frattula Where the Middle Ages never were
"" The Mognon farm is situated in the heart of the Lands of Frattula, where there are still strong rural tradition and well organised farmers, forming the first social corporations, have been carrying on their love for this territory and the passion for the fruits of the land since the Middle Ages. The Lands of Frattula, that benefit from the wonderful hill and sea landscapes are composed of 5 Villages: Castel Colonna, Corinaldo, Monterado, Ripe, Senigallia. The Lands of Frattula Association was born to protect and support this territory. The Mognon farm has been part of this association since its foundation.

Tasting Notes
If you tried to go due east from Florence to the coast you'd get lost in the beautiful remote Apennine backwaters of La Marche, but if you made it through you'd come to the coastal province of Ancona where much of Italy goes on holiday. Here, just a couple of miles from the sea, white-haired but virulent Floriano Mognon grows mostly Montepulciano and Sangiovese, having chucked in city life and bought the abandoned estate in the early eighties. His vineyards are slightly cooled by the sea and protected from rain and cold winds by the mountains to the west, so the wines have a decided pretty side to them. His "contadino" is a nod to local dialect for a farmer and this wine is very much produced on a farm scale in his spotless "cantina".
