In 1918 Mr. Modesto Guell Coll arrived in Chile from Spain and began what would become the La Fortuna winery. Spreading over 200 hectares in the Curico valley Modesto and his off spring have planted judicously with a mix of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Syrah and Sauvignon Blanc. Embracing organic viticulture they are producing wines that have much more depth than is often found in Chilean wines. Wines that are often made to a pre determined price point with little thought for quality. An accusation that could never be levelled at these most fastidous of wine makers. More info
