This large venture was founded by an ex-tutor who specialised in Greek. His 60 odd shareholders are mostly local growers, most of who farm organically.

Producer introduction
Half way between Valdepenas and Valencia is the city of Socuéllamos, just oustside of Socuéllamos are the vineyards of E.H.D This organic winery and vineyard was founded in 1998 by the Delgado Brothers and the grapes are Sohiscert and Ecocert certified. The vineyards stretch over 200 ha, 100 ha of white (Airen, Moscatel and Sauvignon) and 100 ha of red (Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha, Tempranillo and Merlot). The superbly equipped winery is conveniently located in the middle of the vineyards saving valuable time between picking and pressing and so reducing the reliance on sulphur so common round here

Tasting Notes
This large venture was founded by an ex-tutor who specialised in Greek. His 60 odd shareholders are mostly local growers, most of who farm organically. Probably their best wines are these well priced blends that make superb house offerings. The material is very pure and mostly organic but certification at this price is just too dear. The red has a soft fruity nose with the ripe merlot prominent, the syrah and tempranillo give a real backbone to the wine: while it is smooth and gluggable it has great structure for this price.
